Perfect Body Myth
There is escalating pressure on women to conform to a certain body type.
Magazines always talk about bodily variations as imperfections that need fixing. And of course they sell the magic fixing pill!
Media screams - you need to be our definition of sexy and beautiful for him to love you, and then you’ll be forever happy. Don’t even think of accepting your body, otherwise you’ll never get to our perfect standard.
The whole focus of media, body shaming and body bashing industry, is on a myth that changing your appearance will change your life. Media convince women that they need to be beautiful to amount to anything in life, and that most of them are not.
So a lot of women read magazines and start feel bad about themselves, like they are missing something, they are not enough, they need to be ‘perfect’.
How do you relate to this? What is your story?
